Ronnie Peterson was a Swedish F1 driver who raced in the Formula 1 World Championship between 1970 and 1978. He won 10 Grands Prix and claimed 14 pole positions during his career and in 1971 and 1978 he finished runner-up in the Drivers World Championship. Along with Jo Bonnier and Gunnar Nilsson, he is the only racing driver from Sweden to have won a Formula 1 race. He won each of his 10 Grand Prix victories in a Lotus Ford apart from the 1976 Italian Grand Prix which he won in a March Ford. He was a double winner of the French Grand Prix and the Austrian Grand Prix and a triple winner of the Italian Grand Prix. He tragically died from injuries sustained in a fiery accident at the start of the 1978 Italian Grand Prix which involved James Hunt and Riccardo Patrese.
