Robert Kubica is a Polish ex-F1 driver from Kraków who raced in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship between 2006 and 2021. In 2008, during a season in which he challenged for the Drivers Championship, he claimed pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix and won the Canadian Grand Prix. Sadly his promising F1 career was cut short after he sustained appalling arm injuries in a near-fatal accident during the Ronde di Andora rally in February 2011. Miraculously, Kubica returned to the Formula One grid full-time with the Williams team in 2019 and, against the odds, he scored a points finish in the German Grand Prix. During his career, he also finished runner-up in the 2004 and 2005 Macau Grand Prix.
