Often referred to as Formula One’s last true gentleman driver, Elio de Angelis was an Italian F1 driver who raced in the FIA Formula 1 World Championship between 1979 and 1986. He won 2 Grands Prix and claimed 3 pole positions during his career and famously won the 1982 Austrian Grand Prix for Lotus by mere yards from Keke Rosberg. He was tragically killed in an accident whilst testing for Brabham at the Paul Ricard circuit in France in May, 1986.
