The 1982 Indianapolis 500 was the 66th running of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing”. The event was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana, United States on Sunday, 30 May 1982. Rick Mears started on pole position and Gordon Johncock was the race winner. Having also won in 1973, this was Johncock’s 2nd Indy 500 victory.
