The 1987 Indianapolis 500 was the 71st running of “The Greatest Spectacle in Racing”. The event was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana, United States on Sunday, 24 May 1987. Mario Andretti started on pole position and Al Unser was the race winner. Having also won in 1970, 1971 and 1978, this was Unser Sr’s fourth and final Indy 500 victory.
