The event was held at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Indiana, United States on Sunday, 29 May 2005. Tony Kanaan started on pole position and Dan Wheldon was the race winner.

Danica Patrick retakes Wheldon for the lead of the race, bringing the Indianapolis Motor Speedway crowds to their feet. 3 laps later Wheldon overtakes Patrick decisively to seal victory and Patrick fades to 4th at the finish.
