The 1959 United States Grand Prix was Round 9 of the 1959 Formula 1 World Championship. The event was held at Sebring in Florida, USA on Sunday, 12 December 1959. Stirling Moss started on pole position in a Cooper Climax and Bruce McLaren was the race winner in the Cooper Climax. The result of this Grand Prix sealed the outcome of the 1959 Drivers’ Championship and Jack Brabham won the title for the first time.
During an interview with Beyond The Grid – The F1® Podcast released on 28 August 2019, Tony Brooks reminisced about the incident with team-mate Wolfgang von Trips in this race that almost certainly cost him the 1959 drivers’ title.
