The 1968 French Grand Prix was Round 6 of the 1968 Formula 1 World Championship. The event was held at Rouen les Essarts, France on Sunday, 7 July 1968. Jochen Rindt started on pole position in the Brabham Repco and Jacky Ickx was the race winner for the Ferrari. This race is sadly remembered for the fatal accident which claimed the life of Frenchman Jo Schlesser. Schlesser crashed his Honda on the second lap of the race and perished in the ensuing fire.

During an interview with Beyond The Grid – The F1® Podcast that was released on 7 August 2019, race winner Jacky Ickx talked the sadness he felt over Schlesser’s death.
