Michael Schumacher started on pole position for Ferrari and was the race winner. Both Kimi Räikkönen and Fernando Alonso made their F1 debuts at this Grand Prix. Räikkonen finished 6th in the Sauber Petronas and Alonso finished 12th in the Minardi.
