Niki Lauda was an Austrian racing driver who won the Drivers’ Title three times in 1975, 1977 and 1984. He was famous for surviving a horrific fiery accident during the 1976 German Grand Prix, and for his epic championship battle with James Hunt that season which was immortalised in Ron Howard’s 2013 movie, Rush. He won 25 Grands Prix and claimed 24 pole positions during his legendary career and died peacefully in his sleep in a Zurich hospital in May 2019.
