Clay Regazzoni was a Swiss F1 driver who raced in the Formula 1 World Championship between 1972 and 1980. He won 5 Grands Prix and claimed 5 pole positions during his career and finished runner-up in the Drivers World Championship in 1974. He was a double winner of the Italian Grand Prix and famously claimed the first victory for the Williams team at the 1979 British Grand Prix. Tragically, his career was brought to an end after he suffered terrible injuries during the 1980 United States Grand Prix West at Long Beach which left him paralyzed from the waist down. He died in a road accident in Italy December 2006.
