The 1997 Canadian Grand Prix was Round 7 of the 1997 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The event was held in Montreal, Canada on Sunday, 15 June 1997. Michael Schumacher started on pole position for Ferrari and was the race winner.
The race was stopped prematurely after Olivier Panis crashed his Prost Mugen Honda very heavily with 18 laps remaining. As a result of his accident, Panis broke both of his legs and would not race again until the Luxembourg Grand Prix later in the year.
