The 1998 Japanese Grand Prix was Round 16 of the 1998 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The event was held at Suzuka, Japan on Sunday, 1 November 1998. Michael Schumacher started on pole position for Ferrari and Mika Häkkinen was the race winner in the McLaren Mercedes. The result of this Grand Prix sealed the outcome of the 1998 Drivers Championship and Häkkinen won the world title for the first time.
