The 1961 Italian Grand Prix was Round 7 of the 1961 Formula 1 World Championship. The event was held at the Monza circuit in Italy on Sunday, 10 September 1961. Wolfgang von Trips started on pole position for Ferrari and his team-mate Phil Hill was the race winner. The result of this Grand Prix sealed the outcome of the 1961 Drivers’ Championship and Hill won the title. Tragically, this race is remembered above all for the violent accident which claimed the life of von Trips and 14 spectators.
