The 1983 South African Grand Prix was Round 1 of the 1983 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The event was held at Kyalami in South Africa on Sunday, 15 October 1983. Patrick Tambay started on pole position for Ferrari and Riccardo Patrese was the race winner in the Brabham BMW. The result of this Grand Prix sealed the outcome of the 1983 Drivers World Championship and Nelson Piquet won the world title for the second time.
