The 1989 Hungarian Grand Prix was Round 10 of the 1989 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. The event was held at the Hungaroring in Hungary on Sunday, 13 August 1989. Riccardo Patrese started on pole position in the Williams Renault and Nigel Mansell was the race winner for Ferrari. Mansell fought his way through from 12th on the grid and brilliantly passed Ayrton Senna to take the lead of the race when the Brazilian hesitated while lapping Stefan Johansson’s Onyx.
